Medicine Bow Nordic Ski Patrol
Patrol Log:  Sunday, April 19, 1998: M. Allen

19 April 1998, 9:30 am - 3:00 pm, Snowy Range.   Started at Chains End (the western winter closure of Route 130) and skied east on Route 130 to Snowy Range Pass, then returned after meeting a westbound party of two.  Made the following observations about radio contact:

  1.  From Chains End to Silver Lake I could key the Bridger Peak
repeater, but I could raise no response from VIS or from
Janet Smith, who was patrolling in Libby Creek.

  2.  I could not key a response from Kennaday Peak repeater, even
when there was a clear line of sight.

  3.  From Chains End to Silver Lake the Spruce Mountain repeater
was inaccessible.  Radio contact via this repeater was excellent
from Silver Lake eastward to Snowy Range Pass.

Perhaps the Kennaday Peak repeater is a key link that would allow radio communication between the west and east sides of the Snowy Range?
