Medicine Bow Nordic Ski Patrol
Patrol Log:  Sunday, March 12, 2000:  B. Bloom
I started the day out at the ski area.  I wanted to do a couple of lazy man
runs.
I skied the 1st half of the Pot Hole trail.  I started about 10:15 A.M. The
tail had about 6" of fresh snow.  There was complete snow coverage even in
the open areas.  I dug a snow pit about 12:30.
There was a solid layer of powder to a depth of 15".  At that point there was
a layer of ice about 0.5" thick.  The rest of the pit was cohesive granular.
I dug to a depth of 7' before coming to green grass.
I will dig more steps in the next snow pit.  I had to jump 4X before any
slide occurred.
There were 113 snowmobile vehicles & 5 skier vehicles at 10:15.  Curt did the
vehicle count in the afternoon.
