Medicine Bow Nordic Ski Patrol
Patrol Log: Sunday, March 14, 2004:  T. Thibodeau
Arrived at the Green Rock trail head about 10:30 AM. I skied the Potholes trail to Brooklyn Lake, bushwhacked to Telephone Lakes, followed Telephone Creek to Sally Creek and then skied back to Green Rock. In the morning the temperature was in the mid 30s with clear skies and strong winds. In the early afternoon the skies became overcast with strong winds, light snow, and the temperature dropped to the mid 20s.

At 10:30 AM, there were no vehicles at Corner Mountain, Little Laramie or below the cattle guard at Green Rock. There were 44 vehicles between the cattle guard and skier parking at Green Rock. There were 8 vehicles in the skier parking lot and 40 vehicles between there and the Snowy Mountain Lodge.

I dug a snow pit at Skinny Dip Meadow (north side of Sally Creek a ½ mile above the Snowy Mountain Lodge), on a SE facing slope with about a 15% pitch. Snow depth in the pit was 18 inches. There was 4” layer of loosely consolidated depth hoar at the ground level, the remainder of the snow pack was a layer of four finger snow. There were no discernable layers within the snow pack. I also skied to the snow stake on the Barber Lake Trail, it registered 37” of snow.
