Medicine Bow Nordic Ski Patrol
Patrol Log:  Sunday, February 26, 2006:  R. Howell and R. Kubichek
On Sunday Feb. 26, 2006 Bob Howell and Bob Kubichek skied the Potholes
trail from Green Rock to the Brooklyn Lake Road and back. On the way up
we followed one of the cutoffs which lead through the woods to the
saddle east of Brooklyn Lake. On the return we followed the upper part
of the road then came back through the open meadows on the upper part of
the trail.

The trail conditions were good, with the tracks becoming slightly icy by
afternoon. It doesn't appear that there has been new snow since the
large (>12 inch) snowfall of roughly one week ago. The temperature was
in the low 30's and the weather was clear, with some clouds coming in at
the end of the day. Winds were high, but OK in the trees. We met two
pairs of skiers on the Potholes trail itself, plus another pair on the
Brooklyn lake road.

The blue flagging on the lower part of the trail is slowing
disappearing, and the upper part (in and above the upper meadows)
doesn't appear to be marked any longer.

The car counts as of 9:00AM and 3:15PM were:

with without with without
trailers trailers trailers trailers
Corner Mountain Lot 0 1 0 1

Total 56 13 40 13

From the location of parked cars at 3:15 it looks like there were a
substantial number of additional cars which arrived between our two
counts.
