Medicine Bow Nordic Ski Patrol
Patrol Log:  Sun. April 03, 2011:  Mark Daly

Sunday April 3, 2011

I skied from the cabin up Old Rainbow Valley Road to Headquarters trail yesterday. It is unbelievable how much base is still setting in the open fields in the sun.  Although it was wet and rotten, there was plenty of coverage to keep your bases protected even when I did break through.  I crossed over Barber Lake road and ventured up to the Libby Creek cabins.  Plenty of snow yet on the road and packed fairly well from the use over the winter.  I skied some shallow pitches above Headquarters on the way back.  It made for some very wet, heavy turns and made getting up from a fall very challenging in the rotten areas.

 I never saw another soul.

 Spring is here!
