Medicine Bow Nordic Ski Patrol
Patrol Log:  Sun. December 15, 2013:  R. Howell, Carol Frost

On Sunday Dec. 15 Bob Howell and Carol Frost skied up the Potholes Route to the upper open meadows, above the second esker. Conditions were sunny with the temperature in the mid 20's, and there was approximately 2 feet of snow along most of the trail. The trail itself is in good shape with only a few stumps and downed trees showing through the snow. Only a small part of the lowest open meadow was bare of snow. Along most of the trail there clearly has been some work done moving the worst of the deadfall. That deadfall gets a little worse above the 2nd esker. The trail has apparently been partially re-marked, with some newer orange marking tape as well as a little of our surviving original blue tape. However in the section above the second esker, new marking would be useful as it was hard to follow the nominal trail in that area.

On the way up we met a couple skiing down, who had broken trail up to just above the 2nd esker. On the return trip we met other patrollers Ken C. and Carol B., who were skiing up the trail.
