Snow Pit: SE facing slope in open trees, sheltered from afternoon sun. Location: Libby Creek Trail, top of ridge, first open slope.
Total Depth: 65 cm Outside air temp 31 F.
1-4 cm new snow 4-18 cm ET consolidated 29 F at 15 cm perhaps wind slab 18-36 cm TG coarse, some linkage between crystals, but mostly loose 31 F at 30 cm 36-62 cm TG partially 35 F at 45 cm 65 cm Ice layer at base
Shear Test with skis-layer sheared easily at 18 cm. R block skis - also sheared easy at 18 cm. Summary: unstable snowpack, especially with wind slab.
