Weather conditions: 22 F, 5 to 15 mph winds, sunny.

Started the day late due to bad road conditions the day before.
Snow Pit analysis:
Location: T16N, R79W, sec. 14, se sw (Sally Creek)
Elevation: 10,200 ft
Aspect: se facing
Slope angle: 25 degrees
Air temperature: -6 C
Layer 1 - 0 to 36 cm; stellar crystals to graupel, 1 to 2 mm;
fist hardness; temperature at 32 cm was -5 C.
Layer 2 - 36 to 51 cm; stellar crystals to stellar dendrites,
1 mm; 4 finger hardness.
Layer 3 - 51 to 81 cm; irregular columns to angular blocks,
some metamorphosed together, 1 to 2 mm;
four finger hardness; temperature at 60 cm was -5 C.
Layer 4 - 81 to 144 cm; facets and columns, 2 to 4 mm, some
beginning to round and weld together;
fist hardness; temperature at 89 cm was -4 C.
Layer 5 - 144 to 146 cm; ice; knife hardness; temperature at
144 cm was 0 C.
Rutschblock test failed at layer 1 when block was weighted. the
block failed over entire snow pack when jumped on.
Met 5 skiers on Sally Creek Trail. All were aware of and
commented on the severe avalanche danger. Skied Sally Creek to
upper Libby Creek Trail. Met no other skiers.
