Medicine Bow Nordic Ski Patrol
Patrol Log: Sunday, January 24, 1999:  F. Lamb
24 Jan 99, 9:30 am - 5:00 pm, Snowy Range.  Met up with Lisa Marno and Keith Krugh
at the area at 9:00 a.m.  Decided to take a couple of runs since we were there and
the lifts were running and there was 8 inches of new snow. Left for Green
Rock at 11:00 a.m.
Car Count:
81 truck/trailers
7 cars
Snow Course Marker:
51" (the afternoon before it was 45")
Skied the Libby Creek Loop up to the highest point and dug a hasty pit. Went down 4
feet on a 20 degree slope and did  shove shear and rutschblock tests. With the shovel
shear, the first level of very new snow(8-10") sheared of with medium pressure. The
second and third layers (10-12" each) sheared with hard pressure. Lisa had to hop with
great force (level 6) to move all but the top layer of new snow in the Rutschblock
test.  We skied it. Great little run. Face shots on every turn.  I found out that Vern
Bentley had named it "The Women's Downhill".  Total verticle out of it is 450 ft. (Keep
it a secret)

We skied back to the ski area and I left just before 3:00 p.m.
From reading Jerry Hamann's report that was about 30 minutes too early. Just my luck.
