Medicine Bow Nordic Ski Patrol
Patrol Log:  Saturday, February 5, 2000:  M. Allen
5 Feb 00, 10:30 am - 7:30 pm, Snowy Range.  Skied to cabin at Towner
Lake via Potholes Route and Little Brooklyn Lake.  The weather was warm,
with partly cloudy skies and calm winds (for this mountain range). The
snowpack was sunbaked and windpacked after a week of warm, sunny weather.
Skied up to a wind-scoured cirque west of Lost Lake before returning
to the cabin.  Began monitoring and relaying radio traffic associated
with an injured skier, starting at about 3:30 pm.  The accident involved
a skier with a possible broken ankle and another tired skier in the same
party on Libby Creek Trail.  See  Todd Thibodeau's report for more details.
This accident took approximately 4 hours to resolve.  In retrospect, I
think it might have been helpful if I had skied down to the staging area
at Green Rock (about 1/2 hour away), despite the assurances of people on
scene that there were enough people helping.
