Medicine Bow Nordic Ski Patrol
Patrol Log: Saturday, February 2, 2002: Allen, Bloom,
Hotchkiss
2 Feb 02, 0900-1500, Snowy Range. Adele Aldrich, Myron Allen, Ben Roth, Mike Hotchkiss, and Barrie Bloom
skied the Potholes Route. It was a wonderful day for skiing : little wind, sunny, low 30's.
We practiced locating avalanche beacons. We dug a snow pit that had a 76 -degree aspect and
a 15-degree slope.

The top 13 cm failed with just a step on in the Rutsch Block test. After several
hard jumps there was a failure at the old surface level (53 cm) . The
early-season depth hoar appears to be consolidating , but there is still a poorly
adherent slab near the surface.
In the morning the vehicle count was as follows:
Little Laramie 1 car
Road above ski area 63 4
The afternoon count was:
Road above ski area 80 7
