Medicine Bow Nordic Ski Patrol
Patrol Log: Sunday, February 10, 2002:  Thibodeau
We arrived at the Green Rock trail head about 10:00 am.  Seeing that the
snow conditions were poor we decided to ski in the trees on Centennial Ridge.
On the way up we recorded no vehicles at the visitor center, 2 vehicles at the
bottom of Barber Lake Road, 2 vehicles at the Corner Mountain trail head, 1 vehicle
at the Little Laramie Trail head, 81 vehicles at the Green Rock trail head,
6 vehicles at the Green Rock picnic area, and 10 vehicles near Snowy Mountain Lodge.

The skies were clear with moderate winds.  The temperature was in the mid 20s
in the morning and raised to the mid 30s in the afternoon.  All of the major
skiable faces on Centennial Ridge were blown clear of snow (i.e. the question mark,
the duck head, the tipi, etc.).  There was about seven inches of snow in the trees.
The snow was mostly unconsolidated with a moderate wind/sun crust at the surface.
We decided not to dig a snow pit.  We encountered four skiers during the day, but
these low numbers were to be expected due to poor snow conditions.
