Medicine Bow Nordic Ski Patrol
Patrol Log: Sunday, April 10, 2005: M.
Allen
10 Apr 05, 09:30 - 15:00, Snowy Range. Skied from Green Rock trailhead
to Towner Lake via Potholes Route to west leg of the North Fork Trail
to Little Brooklyn Lake to Towner Lake. Returned to Green Rock by
following Telephone Creek downstream to the Snowy Range Road, then
following the road to the trailhead. The Potholes Route was well marked
with blue flagging. Snow was excellent, with about 4" of new powder on
a hard surface. Out of respect for an injured shoulder, I didn't dig a
pit. Informal trailside tests suggested that the new snow formed a soft
slab poorly adhered to the old, sunbaked surface.
