Medicine Bow Nordic Ski Patrol
Patrol Log: Sunday, April 9, 2006:
R. Howell
On Sunday April 9, 2006 Bob Howell skied the Potholes route from Green Rock
to Brooklyn Lake, then returned along the Brooklyn Lake road and the highway.
I replaced the blue flagging on the upper part of the Potholes route, above
the 2nd esker. (The lower part was reflagged March 19.) The old flagging
was just about gone in the open sections, in particular where the route
crosses the meadow east of Brooklyn Lake.
The weather was warm and sunny and skiing conditions were typical of spring.
The trail, especially the open sections, was somewhat crusted and icy in
the morning but softened up by afternoon. There is still a good depth of
snow all along the trail, with only a few rocks showing through in the
open meadows just above Green Rock. I didn't meet any other skiers on
the trail on Sunday but from the tracks a few skiers had used the
trail since the snowstorm on Friday.
