Medicine Bow Nordic Ski Patrol
Patrol Log: Saturday, January 20, 2007:
T. Thibodeau
I
arrived at the Green Rock
trail head about 10:30 AM. I skied with
a friend on the Libby Creek loop. We then
skied up Sally
Creek and made
turns at Skinny Dip Meadow. In the morning
the temperature was in the high
teens with overcast skies and mild winds.
In the early afternoon the skies remained overcast with stronger
winds
and the temperature increase to the mid 20s.
At 10:30 AM there were no vehicles at the Corner Mountain
trail head and 2 vehicles at the Little Laramie trail head. There were approximately 170 vehicles parked
between
the ski area turnoff and the Green Rock parking area.
The skier parking area had 14 vehicles and 18
vehicles between there and the Snowy Mountain Lodge.
We encountered 14 skiers on the Libby Creek
Loop and the UW Outdoor Club avalanche class.
I did not dig a snow pit since the avalanche class would be
digging
numerous snow pits.
