Medicine Bow Nordic Ski Patrol
Patrol Log: Sat. December 19, 2009: D.
Moncecchi, L. Moncecchi
On Saturday December 19th Dino, Lori and
Nate and Ivy and Bodie skied the Pot Holes Trail. There were 4
veh. at Green Rock and about 50 veh. with trailers up to GR (specifics
logged on FS data sheet). We met two parties of 2, 1 when we arrived
and 1 when we were leaving. Both went to the Libby Creek area to get
some turns in, but wisely did not because of the obvious
snow pack instability. I mentioned Sally Creek and
the PH Trail as good touring alternatives. As reported earlier,
there was breakable crust a few inches down with unconsolidated snow
beneath it. Cold temperature will maintain this structure for some
time. Because of kid and dog issues a snow pit was not dug.
