Medicine Bow Nordic Ski Patrol
Patrol Log: Sat. March 05, 2011: Dino
Moncecchi
Saturday March 05, 2011
On Saturday March 5 Dino
and Ivy (big white furry dog) skied
the Potholes Trail to the Brooklyn
Lake Road. The temperature was in the
mid 20’s
with moderate wind. Snow conditions consisted of several inches
of fresh
powder over a fairly hard crust of 3-4 inches – I did not dig a snow
pit,
but Ivy did and said it was comfortable. I saw one party of four with a
couple
of wuff-wuffs.
As Bob stated in a
2/10 log there are alternate tracks because
of a lack of flagging; reflagging should be done, possibly, as a summer
trail
project along with some branch pruning.
The Green Rock
parking lot was plowed and there were probably
6 different vehicle there when I retuned a few hours later. If it
was
consistently plowed I’m convinced that it would be full on a regular
basis.
On arrival and departure I saw several parties coming and going with
skis, snowboards
and snow shoes; there was even a family sliding off the plowed-up snow.
